Management

With 30 years of experience in the industry, Mr. TURAN has gained knowledge in almost every discipline of Shipping, Ship Repair and Ship Building at top management positions. Mr. TURAN has a degree in Maritime Technology and an MBA from the Istanbul Technical University (ITU). During his time at ITU he worked under Ex – President & CEO of BMT International Inc., Prof. Dr. A. Yücel ODABASI’s supervision as an active member of Navy and Private sector projects.

​One of his study “Modernisation of Coastal Fleet” has been incorporated in the Marine Section of the “8th five year State Plan” by the State Planning Organisation as a government policy.

​He later made significant contribution at various well-known Turkish Shipyards and Turkish Shipping Companies to the Strategic Management, Production, Marketing strategies, Quality System implementation, Shipyard Establishment & Redesign, Project Finance, Newbuilding Contracts, Ship Sale & Purchase Activities and Ship Investment Feasibilities as Management Consultant.

​He has also established a Repair Section in a Turkish Shipyard and managed the section together with the newbuilding marketing activities for five years. In addition to around 300 vessels successfully repaired, one of his newbulding project “Viking Lady” offshore supply vessel was the only commercial vessel to use fuel cell technology. It has been deployed in the North Sea. His yard also built chemical tankers and cement carriers successfully.

​In his current company “OKT SHIPPING & TRADING LTD.”, he aims to create a fertile environment for ship owners and shipbuilders as well as finance institutions, by bringing together know-how and expertise through the following services:

In addition to his above business activities, he is also Member of the following committees and writes articles in his blog and international shipping magazines;

• Foreign Relations Commission of TURKISH SHIPBUILDERS’ ASSOCIATION
• Advisory Board of YILDIZ TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY, Naval Architecture and Maritime Faculty

​He is married with one daughter and his wife is Assoc. Prof. in Naval Architecture and Maritime Faculty, YILDIZ TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY.
